The ENV Query Screens are the primary source of aeronautical data stored in the CFMU databases through the so-called ENV (Environment) System; these screens have been designed initially for the CFMU OPSD AD users. Only with CFMU Release 10 (March 2005) it was decided to use the same screens' functionality to provide other users with the possibility to extract ENV data.

This document should provide the user with at least some basic introduction on the usage of the ENV Query screens and its data. Most of the acronyms are conform with ICAO Doc 8400.

  1. Open ENV Query Screens

The ENV Query screens are activated by:

  1. ENV Database access

Dependant on the user’s profile the required ENV data set will be used, in general this will be the 'Operational Ops' (former LIVE) database for the current AIRAC date. ENV Co-ordinators may have the possibility to check for other data releases, if available, in preparation for the next AIRAC period.

  1. ENV Data Entity Types

Dependant on the user’s profile several generic types of ENV data can be queried through the buttons with following acronyms, (not available for all users):

  1. Query possibilities per type of ENV data

The user has the possibility to query for multiple data based on certain Criteria (tab page):

    1. Some fields are mandatory: the user must fill in this field to be able to query, i.e. to activate the Display button.
    2. Some fields allow for the use of wildcards. Where an asterisk between brackets (*) is shown next to the attribute name, then the user may type an asterisk without brackets in the query field.

Example: The user wants to retrieve all Belgian aerodromes. Therefore he or she can fill in the AD ICAO Id field the following combination EB* and choose the Display button. A list of all AD whose ICAO Location Indicator starts with EB are displayed.

This query method is not exhaustive.

Please note that in some cases the user may need to select specific other settings to enable a query.

Example: The user wants to retrieve all Significant Points known to the ENV database. For performance reasons it is not possible, unless the user knows part of the Point identifiers (PT ID), e.g. A* or *DAR*. Additionally the ALL button or one of the different PT Types is selected.

Specific ENV data is used in other ENV data. The Where Used tab page allows the user to fill in a key identifier and select the ENV Entity Type checkbox in which the user is interested.
